Custom Augmented Reality Application Development and Activation

We developed a custom augmented reality application for Dube TradePort in KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa. On 6 September 2019, we provided technical support and on-site activation assistance for the official launch event of the 50-year Durban Aerotropolis Masterplan AR experience.

Our role was to ensure the augmented reality system functioned smoothly throughout the event, enabling attendees to fully experience the interactive masterplan presentation.

In the image above, a physical 3D model of the Durban Aerotropolis masterplan is shown. We developed a custom Android and iOS application that allowed users to interact with the model and access additional information through augmented reality overlays.

Virtual Tour of Dube City

We used Matterport 3D scanning and Insta360 Pro cameras to create immersive virtual tours of Dube City, including both Google Street View integration and Matterport experiences.

These virtual tours are accessible via Google Maps and can be embedded into websites, allowing global audiences to explore the site interactively.

Google Street View Virtual Tour

The Google Street View virtual tour allows users to explore Dube City directly through Google Maps by entering Street View mode (Pegman). This increases accessibility and global visibility of the development.
